WELCOME! The Book Haven is an independent bookstore located in historic downtown Salida, Colorado just a few blocks from the beautiful Arkansas river. Our cozy atmosphere invites browsing as you enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea. The Book Haven carries new and used books as well as cards and calendars. There is a large selection of regional titles and books by our nationally known local authors. You can find books for all ages and interests and we are always happy to special order at no extra charge. We enjoy helping you find just the right title and locating unusual and hard-to-find titles is a specialty. Please stop by for all your reading needs and solve our word puzzle for a free book!
Special Orders We can order any book you want and there is no extra charge nor do you pay until you pickup the book. Just email to the contact below or give the store a call and we will call or email when your book is in. Depending upon the time of year, orders arrive in 3 to 7 days and we'll be happy to tell you the exact timeframe. Can't pickup your book? For a slight charge we will mail the book to you. This is so convenient! You can order and receive your book at home just by contacting us with your credit card number or mailing a check. Call us! We can get you the book you want!
What is an "independent" bookstore? Independent bookstores are locally owned and usually owner-operated stores. They cater to the needs of customers in a way that chain stores cannot. Independent booksellers care deeply about books and readers, authors and writing, and not just about making money.
